Attention
Pain Sufferers:
"Eliminate
That Nagging Lower Back, Shoulder, Knee or Other Joint Pain Permanently!"
"SAY OUCH NO
MORE!!"
Are you
still having that low-back pain that never seems to go away? What about that knee that
hurts so much you have difficulty walking up the stairs? Do you suffer from fibromyalgia?
Despite its unpleasantness, pain is a critical component of the body's defense
system. It is part of a warning and defense relay instructing the central nervous system
to minimize detected physical harm. It can help to prevent further injuries.
Almost everyone has suffered some forms of chronic or acute injuries/ pain
before: be it fracture, arthritis, sprains, tendinitis, strains, tears, or other in some
other forms. They can occur at just about any part of the body affecting bone, connective
and/or muscle tissues. Some recover quite fast, while others are chronic in nature and may
never recover 100%. Whatever it is, proper management of pain and injuries are very
important to improve the quality of your life.
"I
had developed shoulder impingement pain since my army days and have not been able to get
rid of it. I had tried various methods but nothing seems to work. After meeting and
discussing with Paul on a program to help me regain my fitness and fix the pain, we
started training. He showed me a some unique strengthening exercises (which I had never
done before as I was always using machines when I was training with my ex personal
trainer, which apparently weren't helpful) and magically, the pain went away within
days."

There are many forms of
treatments: surgery, medications, accupuncture, physiotherapy, massaging, laser treatment,
exercise etc. Sometimes management may involves combination of 2 or more approaches.
Seldom do any of these forms of treatments could help you recover completely. The real
permanent solution is to - exercise.
In the past, bed rest was often
recommended for any forms of injuries and pain. People also limit joint motion to avoid
pain. This will worsen the condition. Inactivity often leads to overall deconditioning,
muscle atrophy and weakness. Further, the pain, inflammation and swelling of joints
cause inhibitory feedback from joint receptors onto the motoneurons of adjoining muscles.
The joint "tells" the muscles to relax, in order to avoid pain. After some time,
such reduction in nervous stimulation of the muscle leads to muscle atrophy and weakness.
Not only that, your bone density may
be affected if you don't move. In a particular study, there was a 6-percent reduction in
vertebral bone density after only two weeks of bed rest!
Today's treatments for various kind of
pain and injuries (e.g. low-back pain) typically involve "active" approaches,
incorporating cardiovascular, flexibility, strengthening and stabilization (e.g. core
strengthening) exercises.
How does exercise
help?
First, regular exercise makes stronger
joints and muscles, and keeps them flexible. This reduces joint pain and stiffness. Many
pain, whether acute or chronic, are largely caused by weak and inflexible muscles and
joints. Corrective exercise also help to delay the progression of arthritis and other
diseases that cause pain.
Secondly, when you become more active,
you will feel better psychologically. When you feel better you feel less pain. For
example, some people with arthritis feel they can do more and that they have more energy
once they become more active. This in itself may help them cope better with arthritis
pain.
Exercise also
helps promote overall health and fitness by giving you more energy, helping you sleep
better, controlling your weight, decreasing depression, and giving you more self-esteem.
Furthermore, exercise can help stave off other health problems such as osteoporosis and
heart disease.
Safety First. How
to do it?
A proper exercise routine is important
for managing pain and injuries. However, proper instruction regarding the frequency,
intensity, duration and type of activity is essential to prevent exacerbation of symptoms.
Acute stress from sudden, forceful,
jarring movements, repetitive motions, improper exercise techniques or biomechanics, and
inappropriate exercise dosages (frequency, intensity and/or duration) can lead to
increased pain, more joint swelling, excessive fatigue and, in some instances, further
injuries.
If you have injuries and pain that
never seem to improve, let us help you. At Fitness Tutor, we specialised in only
